Kim Kardashian West and her family have reportedly shut down filming their reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, for the rest of the year, sources told TMZ. The show has not filmed any new scenes since early October. The Kardashian family (several of whom are executive producers on the show) has not reportedly decided when (or if) they will resume. It has been a tumultuous few months for the very high-profile Kardashian-Jenners: Kim, the victim of a much-publicised jewel heist, was assaulted and robbed in Paris in early October, and her husband, Kanye West, canceled the latter half of his Saint Pablo tour last week citing exhaustion after several erratic performances. Not to mention the current geopolitical climate in the United States and abroad. (President-elect Donald Trump is a reality TV star veteran with a proclivity for alarmist, factually ignorant tweet-storms. Who needs TV?)
Could we, as a society, have outgrown KUWTK? Between Kendall Jenner’s ascension to the upper ranks of the fashion industry, Kylie Jenner’s burgeoning entrepreneurialism, Khloé Kardashian’s new denim line, and the entire family’s omnipresence across social media, few, if any, of the Kardashian-Jenner clan still need the show as either a source of PR or income. Even Rob Kardashian has his own spin-off show, for Pete’s sake. Could this be the beginning of the end for the first family of reality TV? We’ll just have to wait and see.
